FAQs - Life Redefined Healing

We mainly work with couples, families, teens, and children. We also see individual adults.

When you contact us, a therapist will answer the call or return your call if it is missed.  You will be asked about what issues you hoping to resolve as well as time and day availability.  After receiving that information we will assign you to a therapist or coach that is best fit for your needs.  Most clients are able to get in to see someone the same week that they call?

Nervousness is common during the first session, especially if therapy is a new experience for you.  Our office, therapists, and environment are all intentionally designed to help you feel most comfortable and relaxed.  The first session is very similar to a first date! You will get to know the therapist, and the therapist will spend the majority of the session getting to know you.  You need to know that this will be a good fit for you, your child, or your family.  Often, you leave the first session with some ideas on goals or at least the task of beginning to think of goals.

We work a lot with couples that want to address conflict resolution, communication, emotional intimacy, sexual intimacy, parenting, divorce/separation, and stressful events. We also work quite a bit with families addressing teen challenges, parenting, communication, and family bonding. More specific areas of treatment include those dealing with infidelity, sexual difficulties, infertility, depression, anxiety, pre-marital counseling, addictions, grief/loss, trauma, and extended family issues.

CCF Friendswood offers coaching service in addition to therapy services because we know that not everyone that needs assistance has a diagnosable issue or unresolved experiences from the past.  Therapy will take a deeper dive into your past experiences, traumas, or relationships and work on healing those wounds.  Coaching swims in the “shallow” end of the past, and focuses on creating the life you want in the present.

Here are just a few things that you would want to hire one of our coaches for:

  • Setting and achieving goals and objectives
  • Weight loss and nutrition goals
  • Planning — business, career and life
  • Marital enrichment
  • Moving past blocks and fears
  • Financial security and independence
  • Balancing business and personal life
  • Making key decisions and designing strategies for success
  • Creating meaningful relationships
  • Finding the ideal career/work or business
  • Finding the ideal partner/love/relationship
  • Getting out of a rut
  • Making an important life transition
  • Starting a business
  • Growing a business
  • Living an ideal life
  • Identifying core values and passions
  • Fulfilling personal and emotional needs
  • Getting organized
  • Having loads more time to enjoy life

If you are having trouble deciding whether therapy or coaching is right for you, our trained professionals will be able to help you determine what is best for your situation.

Our wellness coaches are trained professionals that will help you clarify goals and implement a plan for you to achieve those desired goals.  They incorporate mind, body, and soul aspects to help you create a well integrated life.  Your coach is there for you every step of the way, to offer expertise, education, encouragement, and accountability.

At the beginning, therapy typically occurs once a week for 50 minute sessions.  For couples, or individuals in crisis, sessions can be more frequent or longer.

Coaching session frequency is determined by the client and coach after completing a thorough assessment.  Coaching allows for more flexibility and sessions and check-ins can be offered via phone, text, and take place in less traditional settings, such as a park or coffee shop!

Both therapy and coaching sessions can be offered online through a HIPPA compliant platform.

This varies depending on the presenting issues and will be determined between you and your therapist or coach.

The average client will see us for 12 to 16 weeks; however, some see us for more or less time.

We take pride in hiring therapists that are well-trained in relational approaches. The majority of our therapists are Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists or Associates who have graduated from accredited family therapy programs. This is important because there are many non-accredited programs out there. Graduates from an accredited program by the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapy will have the highest level of training. In the state of Texas, there are only three such programs.

We all use a relational or systems theory approach which means we focus on helping relationships. In addition, many of us use specific models like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based approaches.

As the cost of a therapy session varies depending on the therapist you see–We ask that you contact our office for the individual rates. We offer payment options for those experiencing financial difficulties, as well as packages.

Benefits: Some insurance will pay for a portion of your session, leaving you tp pay a co-pay and/or your deductible.

Risks: In order to use medical insurance, the insurance company has to feel that the service is medically necessary.  In order for your therapy to be covered, there needs to be a diagnosis.  This is given to the insurance company and they decide if the benefits will cover this diagnosis. This also often times means that couples counseling is excluded.

Using insurance also means that your level of confidentiality is compromised.  When a therapist submits a bill to the insurance company, many people have access to all of the information provided on the bill: the processor, case managers, peer reviewers, and customer service representatives, just to name a few. In the short -run, this may not affect you; however, if you ever decided to apply for life insurance, or similar types of policies, all medical records are requested.  This included all mental health records.  If you are summoned in a court proceeding, such as a divorce, custody hearing or as a witness, your medical records can also be subpoenaed.
